This Traditional Chinese Medicine is comprised of 21 medicinal plants; 9g of Chinese ephedra, 6g of Glycyrrhiza uralensis, 9g of Prunus armeniaca, 15 to 30g of Gypsum, 9g of Ramulus cinnamomi, 9g of Alisma plantago-aquatica, 9g of Polyporus umbellatus, 9g of Atractylodes macrocephala, 15g of Wolfiporia extensa, 16g of Bupleurum chinense, 6g of Scutellaria baicalensis, 9g of Pinelliae tuber, 9g of Zingiber officinale, 9g of Aster tataricus, 9g of Tussilago farfara, 9g of Iris domestica, 6g of Asarum, 12g of Dioscorea oppositifolia, 6g of Trifoliate orange, 6g of Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae and 9g of Agastache rugosa. This Traditional Chinese Medicine is a combination of four combinations of well-known prescribed classic TCM from Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases, which are Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang, She Gan Ma Huang tang, Xiao Cai Hu Tang and Wu Ling San.

The formula administration was associated with 50% reduction of in-hospital mortality due to COVID-19. The incidences of acute liver and kidney injuries were comparable between the treatment and control cohorts. Sample size: 2568 + 6371 control. Dosage: The formula was administered daily for at least three days. Primary outcomes: COVID-19 in-hospital mortality and treatment safety.
