Noscapine
An alkaloid.
General information
Noscapine is a non-narcotic alkaloid from Papaver somniferum. It displays antitussive and mild analgesic activity. Noscapine has been studies for potential antineoplastic activity, which could be due to its capability to inhibit mitosis via tubulin binding. This could in turn lead to tumour cell death (NCIt).
