General information

MRT5500 is an experimental COVID-19 mRNA vaccine. The mRNA encodes a pre-fusion-stabilized SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein without a Furin cleavage site and an endoplasmic reticulum retention signal. The vaccine mRNA is delivered in lipid nanoparticles. It displayed immunogenicity and efficacy in animal model studies (Kalnin et al., 2021).
