Curcumin
A plant phenolic pigment.
General information
Curcumin is a bioactive plant polyphenol pigment. It blocks the formation of reactive-oxygen species and has anti-inflammatory properties due to its inhibitory activities targeted against several enzymes involved in inflammation. Curcumin was also shown to have antineoplastic, antibacterial, hypoglycaemic, or wound-healing properties. It is clinically trialled for various health conditions (DrugBank, NCIt).
